Ricky update

So much time has passed since my last entry. Sorry Ricky. I will be better.

Ricky is 6 months now. He just had his 6 month check up. He is weighing 16 lbs 2 oz and measuring 26 in. He rolls over. Likes to sit up on my lap and stare at everything. He laughs and smiles very easily. All I have to do is look at him and smile and he smiles back. The nights he stays in bed with me, when I wake up I am rewarded with the biggest smile ever. Probably because to wake me him he likes to poke my eyes. He is eating solids now. He loves, loves, LOVES squash. Weird baby. He talks. My does he talk...well baby talk. Its the cutest thing ever. He is aware of my dog Pelukas. He follows her with his eyes and screams to get her attention. I am not sure how she feels about him but so far they get along.

He is such a joy. I have to make this a short one. Daddy just bathed him by himself for the first time and is trying to put him to bed all on his own for the first time. Both my guys are growing up so fast ;)

He is eating!!!

Ricky ate cereal for the first time today. It was sooo cute. He looked kinda confused the first few times. We waited until he was almost 5 months because we wanted to make sure his digestive system was ok. We will see how he does.

He has been sleeping all night now. His bedtime is 8:30pm. He gets a bath, then his bottle, then he sleeps. He is asleep by 9pm. I get to sleep until 7ish the next morning. I missed my sleep.

He fights me sometimes. I sing to him so he can fall asleep and lately he is reaching up and covering my mouth with his hand. Now, I know I dont have the best voice in the world but I dont think it's that bad...who knows.

I am having so much fun with him. He loves to sit up and see everything. He loves to talk and laugh. He is the biggest flirt in the world. He loves girls. Any girl that talks to him, he smiles and does his googly eyes. If he has a group of girls, his eyes always land on the prettiest one and its to her that he gives all his best smiles. I have seen him do that one to many times. I am already worrying:)

He will be 5 months this month....We moved his crib to our room. He was sleeping in a bassinet and he out grew it. The first night we put him there, I felt so sad. I realized that he was growing up so fast. In a matter of months, he will be in his own room. Then he will be starting school. Soon after that he'll be graduating, going on a mission, getting married and leaving me. In a blink of an eye, I will be a grandma. A little melodramatic? Maybe, but I know that all you moms will understand. I loved feeling him move inside me. I love carrying him in my arms and staring at him for hours. I love kissing and hugging him without him pushing me away. I am cherishing all these moments because he is growing up so fast.

I love this lil guy that I just met a few months ago. I hope he knows that.

So I took a very long vacation from blogging. Ricky has been more alert and awake during the day. He takes 2 naps and sleeps for about 10-15 min each nap. He is awake the rest of the time and demands constant attention. This makes blogging very hard:)

So Christmas was fun. We spent it with Mando's family. Ricky received tons of gifts. He slept most of Christmas but we took tons of pictures for him to see when he gets older.

We traveled to California on the 29th. He did amazing on the flights. He slept much of the time and the rest of the time he just talked to himself. He met my dad for the first time. It was amazing. I loved seeing my dad with him. And Ricky loved every minute of it. He also met Natalie (my sister) for the first time. He loved her instantly. I have never seen him react to someone the way he did with her. As soon as he saw he smiled and talked with her and you can see how happy he was with her. He was like that the whole time we were there.

We also had the opportunity to bless him. in our church, we don't baptize babies, we give them a blessing. We were able to do this in LA so that my father and brothers had the opportunity to be there.

We came back on the 11th. Mando started a new job at Rackspace. Ricky had his 4 month checkup and shots. He has grown sooo much. He is sleeping through the night beautifully. He sits up with a little help and hates tummy time. He is getting ready to start eating solids. We will begin with some cereal soon. He is so talkative. I love it. My lil chunker is growing up...

He finally did it!!!

He slept all night...kinda... :) He fell asleep like at 9pm and woke up at 12ish to eat. He fell back asleep and woke up at 7ish! I was sooooo happy!

The down side is that he hasnt slept all day. I think combined he slept maybe about an hour and its almost 7:30pm. I think he isnt feeling well.

So if I must choose sleep all night and raise heck all day or wake up 2 times and give mommy peace and quiet during the day, i choose.....not sure. In both scenarios I am tired. :)

Update

Well, its been a while. I am noticing that the older he gets, the less free time I have. Thats not a complaint, just an observation.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving. We spent the whole day with Mando's family. The food was yummy and Ricky behaved so good. He is a very social baby. He loves being around people and seeing there faces. He loves being in the middle of everything and fights his sleep with all his might whenever we are around other people. He doesnt want to miss out on anything. We took our picture for our Christmas card. Whoever reads this gets one:) Just dont forget to leave your address:)

Ricky is doing well. He got his first cold this last thursday and has been sick ever since. He is doing a lot better. And for a baby who must be feeling miserable, he wasnt too bad. He was just a little fussier than usual but not what i would have expected. I was expecting mush worse (knock on wood).

Other than that he is doing amazing. He got this new thing of vomiting half of what he eats (a little exaggeration) and then when we clean him up he is just smiling away.

He laughed for the very first time out loud on monday. It was the cutest thing ever. What was even more adorable was that he was sleeping when it happened. Who knows what he was dreamimg about. We got his birth certificate and are getting ready to travel at the end of this month. Hopefully he has fully recovered.

2 months

sorry its been along time. He has gotten in the habit of not sleeping. I thought all babies ever did is eat, sleep and poop. Well he eats and poops all right but sleep not so much. He naps for a couple of minutes and then wakes up. As soon as he wakes up he thinks its eating time no matter when the last time he ate. He keeps my hands full. Good thing he is so cute:)

He is sleeping better at night. He is waking up 2 times. Most of the nights. There has been a few nights when he wakes up EVERY HOUR!!! No joke. Then he doesnt sleep during the day. Those days are very tiring. People keep telling me its only for a few months...I sure hope that is true.

We took him to his 2 month follow up. He is weighing 9.1 lbs and measuring 21 inches. He is doing great. He got his shots as well. He was such a trooper he hardly cried. He cried for 2 seconds and that was it. He just looked at us and looked away. He had a little fever the next day and had a really tiring night but thankfully he is doing lots better.

He loves to look at everything. He stays awake and looks around at everything. He smiles directly at me now. I talk with him and he smiles back. It's not a random smile but one that is directed at me. I melt every time he does that.

I love him so much. I cant believe he is two months already. We are looking forward to the holidays. Cant wait for my dad to meet him.

My brother Jacob was here for a few days. We had so much fun. Jake would sing to Ricky and Ricky loved it. We went to the Alamo and went to the AT&T Center. I loved having Jake with me. Thanks Jake for coming. It meant so much to us. Jake is leaving for his mission and will be gone for 2 years. Glad that he was at least able to meet the baby and be with him for a few days.

Tender Moment

We have been trying to start a routine for Ricky. More specifically a bedtime routine because I am tired and miss my sleep. For a less selfish reason, I hear its good for them to have routines. So I was reading that at night time you should dim the lights, lessen the interaction you have with the lil one and speak softly. Well since Armando is at work all day and when he comes home Ricky is sleeping, the only time he has to play with him is right when we are trying to put him to bed. It's kinda hard to limit the interactions when Daddy wants to play. It's the cutest thing seeing Armando with Ricky. He is so gentle and loving. Ricky adores him as you can tell by the picture...either that or he was scared...we haven't figured that out yet...
